Bipolar Disorder |
Exercise |
Staying in good shape does more than keep you physically fit, it keeps you mental fit as well. For instance, practicing yoga is calming and great exercise. The focusing on breathing and clearing your mind so you can really get into the right frame of mind required for the poses. Yoga relaxes and strengthens your body and mind at the same time. The meditation involved helps to remember that your symptoms are not the end of the world, and that they are manageable. Yoga also promotes physiological and spiritual wellbeing.
Running is another form of exercise that is highly recommended to help relieve stress and calm oneself. You can pound out all of the anger and frustrations from the day on the pavement. |
Another way to look at holistic alternatives is to think about what one is putting into the body. Drugs and alcohol are depressants so they should be avoided at all costs, whether bipolar disorder is present or not.
The notion of clean eating and being mindful of the pathway food takes from the origin to your plate and keeping as many unnatural chemicals and processed foods out your body is the best option. So this means limiting sugars and caffeine because they can make ones mood very unstable. The healthier the food you're eating, the better it is for your body and your mental state of well being. Healthy life choices are not just eating and exercising, they are everything a person does. May that be not smoking a cigarette or getting out in the sunshine for a few minutes each day. Other holistic ways of managing bipolar symptoms are getting massages, maintaining proper amounts of sleep, practicing mediation, and having healthy relationships just to name a few. It is important to remember that holistic options are about a lifestyle change, one must adapt their way of life to being a healthier person in all aspects. Getting outside and being in nature is one of the best decisions you can make when trying to improve your mindset. Hiking, fishing, walking the dog, or just setting out side and reading a book are al excellent ways to unwind. |
